Ty      European     Studies

Portumna Community School has been an active participant in the European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS) programme for over ten years. The EPAS Programme is a network of schools across the EU raising awareness of European parliamentary democracy and European citizenship values. Over 70 schools in Ireland are taking part in 2020.

Transition Year students follow a structured programme of learning and activities focused on the European Union. They completed a course booklet, created a school ‘info-point’ on the EU (this year in the form of an online magazine, see below), and helped teach 1st Year students about the EU in their CSPE lessons.

For more information on the EPAS scheme, visit: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/ireland/en/youth-outreach/ambassador-school-programme
