I hope that your visit to our website gives you a flavour of life in a thriving centre of learning, dedicated to the betterment of the young people of this area. This section of the website shows you some of the underlying foundation and structures which create the platform on which our staff and students construct the learning experiences which make the school such a vibrant and energetic community. The outcome of all of this is what matters of course: young people who are encouraged to grow, learn, make their own learning and become self directing adults. Their journey to that goal is full of the stuff of all journeys: fun, thrills, falls, setbacks, disappointments, delays, achievements, glory days and occasionally getting lost before journey's end. But the journey is made with wise and skilled guides and the journey is the better and the richer for it. Perhaps your own journey through this website will leave you with a better understanding of Portumna Community School, founded in 1990, and the people who continue to re-make it in every generation.
